About Us

Scott Walker, owner of Flooring Solutions, started in the wood flooring industry in 1999 by traveling across the Midwest installing and refinishing gymnasiums and basketball courts for schools and colleges including Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI.  Also participated in the carpenters apprenticeship program earning the title of journeyman carpenter.

In 2004, Scott made the transition to residential flooring by starting his first company, Walker Flooring, spending the next four years installing, sanding, and finishing hardwood floors in the Des Moines, IA metro. In 2008 he closed his company and took the opportunity to work for a major hardwood flooring distribution company and spent seven years as a territory manager. There, he worked with flooring stores and flooring contractors throughout Iowa supplying products, educating, and training them on process, skills and techniques. He also traveled across the county visiting flooring mills, training centers, and NWFA learning all he could about the industry to bring that knowledge back to Iowa for his customers. In 2016, Scott wanted to put an end to traveling and be home every night with his family and started Flooring Solutions.
